Proper candle care ensures the best scent throw, a longer burn time, and safe enjoyment of your handmade candle.
🕯️ First Burn Matters
-
Allow the candle to burn long enough for the melted wax pool to reach the edges of the container (usually 2–3 hours).
-
This helps prevent tunneling and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle.
✂️ Wick Care
-
Always trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn.
-
A properly trimmed wick helps prevent soot, excessive flame, and uneven burning.
⏳ Burn Time Guidelines
-
Do not burn candles for more than 4 hours at a time.
-
Allow the candle to cool and solidify before relighting.
🔥 Candle Safety
-
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
-
Keep candles away from drafts, fans, pets, and children.
-
Always place candles on a heat-resistant, stable surface.
-
Do not move a candle while the wax is hot or liquid.
🛑 When to Stop Burning
-
Discontinue use when ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom of the container.
-
Burning past this point may cause the container to overheat.
🌬️ Smoke & Soot Tips
-
If smoking occurs, extinguish the candle, trim the wick, and allow it to cool before relighting.
-
Avoid placing candles in drafty areas to reduce flickering and soot.
♻️ After the Candle
-
Once finished, allow the container to cool completely.
-
Clean out remaining wax and reuse or recycle the jar where possible.
